Biography

Nic Prior is an up and coming actor and performing artist having recently graduated from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) in Los Angeles. They have been training since a young age and are very passionate about all aspects of their artistic practice.

Nic was born in Brisbane, Australia to an American mother and Australian father. They lived, trained, created and worked in Australia until the age of 19 when they moved to the United States. Nic’s training is diverse and well rounded with experience in many different kinds of performance. They began their formal training at the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries in Brisbane, Australia where they focussed on contemporary/devised performance, Suzuki Actor Training, Viewpoints, Absurdist Theatre, Brecht’s Epic Theatre, Shakespeare and Butoh.

While in Brisbane they also studied with Zen Zen Zo Theatre Company, furthering their training in Butoh, the Suzuki Method and Viewpoints, and with Queensland Theatre as part of their Youth Ensemble. Nic continued their education in Los Angeles at CalArts and successfully completed their BFA in 2020.

Nic has been involved in many theatrical productions in Australia and the United States. Favourite roles for Nic include The Players in Hamlet (dir. Scarlett Kim), Haimon in Antigone (dir. Natalia Lassalle-Morillo) and Chiron in Holding Achilles (dir. David Morton-Paine and Joshua Thomson). Nic also recently worked with internationally renown theatre troupe, Gob Squad, in their LA premiere of Creation (Pictures for Dorian) at REDCAT. They have also recently appeared as Alpha in In Our Blood, a limited series being released on the ABC is 2023.

Nic’s plans for the future include continuing to diversify their art practice and expanding further into playwriting, directing and performance art.
